    Lake Superior and the North Shore from Duluth, Minnesota, are beautiful and full of surprises. A trip up the north shore is a wonderful vacation destination for any outdoor enthusiast. Visitors to the North Woods can hike, bicycle, walk, or skate on miles of paved trails or enjoy the trails winding through our state forests.The Superior Hiking Trail is a 210-mile trail from just north of Duluth, MN to the Canadian border. The longest paved path is the Willard Munger State Trail which connects Duluth with the scenic Jay Cooke State Park.

    Visitors to Duluth can take a drive along the North Shore Scenic Drive and make stops along the way at various state parks. Gooseberry Falls State Park allows visitors to get up close to its waterfalls and has miles of hiking trails. Split Rock Lighthouse will surely be a favorite destination.Canoeing or kayaking is a great way to experience Lake Superior and the many beaches and coves along its shores. Visitors can charter a boat and do some fishing while taking in the rocky shores.

    Attractions abound and are plenty enough to fill any visitor’s day to the city of Duluth, but if you are looking for something more to do…Duluth has got that for you too.

    Bayfront Festival Park has wide open spaces for flying kites, tossing a Frisbee or just having a picnic. Summer months bring music and entertainment with the Bayfront Blues Festival as well as local entertainers. Not far from the park is the Lakewalk. This boardwalk extends for miles along the shores of Lake Superior. Duluth Visitors can walk, run, rollerblade, or bicycle their way along the Lakewalk. Multiple seated bikes may be rented in Canal Park.

    Just over the Aerial Lift Bridge is Park Point. Visitors can meander to the Park Point Beach and enjoy jumping the waves of Lake Superior, search for agates, enjoy a game of volleyball in the park, or play with the kids in the playground. With Lake Superior as your back yard, take a charter fishing expedition for the day with licensed guides and equipment provided.

    The grass is greener for any golf game in Duluth, MN and there are three public golf courses in Duluth, MN and Superior, WI.Duluth supports many festivals and events all year. The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra features family, pop and classical concerts. Art and craft fairs can be found during the summer on Park Point and at Glensheen.     Vista StarDuluth, Minnesota attractions focus on history, nature and fun. Start your family vacation with a sight-seeing cruise with the Vista Fleet. The Vista has two tour boats in the Duluth harbor. Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner while touring the harbor and Lake Superior. Tours are fully narrated and a great way to view the city of Duluth. The Vista also offers tours from Barker’s Island in Superior, Wisconsin.

    The Lake Superior Zoo is a Duluth attraction for all to see. Located a short drive from Downtown Duluth, the Lake Superior Zoo has hands on exhibits and a couple of playful polar bears that will bring a smile to everyone. For a more educational venue, visit the Great Lakes Aquarium and learn about all the creatures in the Great Lakes. Visitors can get up close to many species of fish and wildlife.

    The North Shore Scenic Railroad at The Depot offers narrated rides and various entertainment trains including pizza trains, tea trains, and murder mystery trains. The Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad in West Duluth takes passengers on a journey along the St. Louis River. 

    The S.S. William A. Irvin Ore Boat Museum, aka Great Lakes Floating Maritime Museum, gives visitors and up close look at the inside of an ore boat. Visitors in October will get a thrill from the haunted ship as this ore boat turns into the spookiest venue in town.

    The historic Congdon Estate, Glensheen, offers a look at the past in rich detail. Visitors can tour this Lake Superior mansion and grounds most of the year. The Fairlawn Museum in Superior is one of America’s castles. Visitors will enjoy this Victorian era mansion as well as the views of Barker’s Island.
