    Come

Posted on December 18th 2007 in Things To Do

Nothern ImagesThe weather in Duluth, Minnesota is so delightful this time of year.  We have a good base of snow on the ground and Lake Superior is good for a dusting of fluff every now and again.  There is plenty to do when you visit Duluth this time of year.

     1.  Spirit Mountain Ski Resort is open and ready for business.  In addition to the snowfall, the crews have been making snow for many weeks now.  Spirit Mountain offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, dining, and plenty of room to spend the day with awesome views of the city of Duluth.

    2.  Snowmobiling is an ever popular thing to do in the Northland.  Minnesota is filled with state trails available to snowmobilers.  It’s a great way to spend a day with family and friends.

    3.  Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing is just about perfect in and around Duluth.  On or off trails offer nature at her winter best.

    4.  Ice skating is very fun in Duluth.  Most communities have community ice rinks.  Bayfront Park offers public ice skating as well.  During the holidays is the best time to skate as Bayfront is lit up with lights.

    5.  Hiking is a year round adventure when you visit Duluth.  All state trails are open and once there is enough ice, hiking the many rivers and creeks can be very interesting.

    6.  Anglers love to visit Duluth and do a little ice fishing on Lake Superior or any one of the surrounding area lakes.  A fishing license is required and it is highly recommended that you dress in layers and stay warm.  Check ice conditions before  heading out.

    7.  Another year round activity is Photography.  The northland has given birth to some famous photographers including Craig Blacklock and Jim Brandenburg

    8. Curling is a popular winter time sport in Duluth.  What once was the sport of the older crowd is catching on with many younger Duluthians.  Give it a try when you stop to visit Duluth!
