    Google

Posted on March 5th 2010 in Announcements

Duluth, Minnesota, needs your help!  Duluth is in the running to be a testing site for Googles’ new fiber ultra-high speed Internet access.  This would be faster service for residents and visitors to Duluth.  The campaigning has begun and Duluth needs your support.  Become a Facebook Fan and also register your support here.

Our mission is to win the Google Fiber project by showing Google the community’s passion for fiber - high speed Internet, video and voice - the highly skilled workforce in our communities, the strong, supportive entrepreneurial environment, and the community’s visionary leadership.

Go to http://www.googletwinports.comand register your support.  We are looking forward to seeing you on our Facebook Fan page!

We also like to have some fun.  Check out this video as Duluth goes up against rival Topeka, Kansas – temporarily renamed Google, Kansas.

    Duluth

Posted on August 8th 2007 in Announcements

Best Town in America Outside Magazine has ranked the Best Towns in America to live in for fitness, fun and packed with adventure and Duluth, Minnesota made the list in their August 2007 issue.  For those of us that live here all year, we already knew that Duluth, MN has everything for anybody.  This city has scenic hiking and biking trails, waterways galore for kayaking and boating, restaurants to fit anyone’s food taste, and outdoor adventures like fishing, rock climbing and surfing.  Yes, you can surf in Lake Superior.  The waves are especially high as the storms roll in off the Lake.  More recently, Duluth visitors have seen some adventurous kitesurfers on the waters.

Winter brings a whole new look and new activities to Duluth for outdoor enthusiasts.  Downhill and cross-country skiing are popular as well as exploring the area on snowmobile.  Many of the trails used by hikers and bikers in the summer become available to cross-country skiers and snowmobilers in the winter.  Anglers can still get their fill with ice fishing.  The City of Duluth supports community ice skating rinks.  If the cold comes in and the snow hangs back, area rivers and lakes will freeze nicely giving ice skaters a different kind of adventure.
