  • Aerial Lift Bridge Lake Superior Duluth

Posted on May 15th 2007 in Aerial Lift Bridge

One of the must see land marks in Duluth is the Aerial Lift Bridge. Originally constructed in 1905 to connect the point to the main land, the new bridge spanned 300ft and sported a gondola that could hold up to 60 tons and made the trip every 5 minutes. Due to a growing population on the point, the bridge was modified in 1929 to accommodate the growing traffic requirements. To this day, the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge stands as a sign of the economic success Duluth has experienced and is a can’t miss on your trip to Duluth.
