  • Glensheen Mansion Duluth MN Congdon Family

Posted on May 16th 2007 in Glensheen Mansion

Enjoy a breath taking view of Lake Superior from the windows of the 17th-century style Glensheen mansion. Sometimes referred to as Duluth’s American Castle, it boasts 39 rooms and many original furnishings. Constructed from 1905-1908 and first occupied in 1908, you can’t visit Duluth and not visit the Glensheen mansion.

I was wondering if you could mention more about the children of the Congdon Family…that would help me with my report I’m doing on the Glensheen Mansion’s Congdon Family!

i’m fifteen years old and i am hoping to someday see this mansion in person. i just found out about it while researching congdons castle in yakima, washington and i understand that the same people owned them. i used to live by congdons castle and would sneak onto the grounds with my brother and our best friend. it’s a quite exquisite place. i hope that someday i’ll be able to see glensheen mansion in person.

If you know the history of the family,I know someone that was on the jury.

I went to this place, not too long ago, and it was FANTASTIC and very VERY interesting, and very beautiful!

It is my understanding after visiting Glensheen in 1990 that the staff are not allowed to discuss the details of the family regarding the murders. I doubt that invading the present relatives of the Cogdon’s is either possible nor appropriate.

      Leave them be.

When i took a tour at the Glensheen our tour guide did tell us the story of the murders that happened. He only told us when asked, though.
