Bill Watson has been an integral part of Northwestern Mutual’s story in Duluth and Northern Minnesota since July of 1999 and an integral part of the Northland’s close-knit community for 25 years.
A national standout, Bill played hockey for UMD from 1982-1985 and was a two time All-American collegiate point record holder in 1985. In the same year he became the 5th recipient of the highly coveted Hobey Baker Memorial Award, College hockey’s most distinguished honor for men. Think about the commitment and devotion to craft such accomplishments embody.
During these formative days at UMD, Bill met his wife of 22 years, Molly. From 1985-1989, he played professional hockey in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks, after which he enjoyed coaching hockey at St. Scholastica & Western Michigan.
Bill Watson has 3 children, Tony (14), Patrick (13) and Emily (11). Currently, he is a volunteer coach at UMD and enjoys spending time with his family.
