The 11th Annual Homegrown Music Festival kicks off May 1 with events, concerts and a local film festival.  This week long festival begins a culture of music in Duluth MN.  Combine that with the AAD Shrine Circus and you have yourself a fun filled family weekend.  Take in a show at the UMD Theatre with “Much Ado About Nothing” or at the Renegade Comedy Theater with Peasantworks Porch in Canal Park or at the Duluth Playhouse with “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse”.  Meander the Gingerbread Arts & Craft Show at the Miller Hill Mall and start your holiday shopping early.

Vista Fleet BoatsGet it in before they are gone. The fall colors are spectacular in Duluth and the surrounding area.  Enjoy one last boat ride on Lake Superior with the Vista Fleet’s Fall Color Cruises.  Check out the haunted cruises later in October.  You can also ride the dinner train with the NorthShore Scenic Railroad along the waterfront.  Need a thrill?  Take a tour on the Haunted Ship - the William A Irvin ore boat with their annual haunted tours. Tours are Friday & Saturday.  Boo at the Zoo is October 11 & 18 so get your tickets early.

Jay Cooke State parkLooking for something different? Visit Jay Cooke State Park in Duluth, Minnesota and enjoy the Northwoods! With the rain in the past month, the St. Louis River will be a sight to see. Walk across the swinging suspension bridge at the Park Center. Jay Cooke is filled with hiking and biking trails. Perfect for mountain biking! Wildlife is found throughout the park with deer, bear, wolf, coyote, heron, hawks and many more species. Winter months make this a great destination for cross-country skiers too!
