A trip up the north shore is a wonderful vacation destination for any outdoor enthusiast. Visitors to the North Woods can hike, bicycle, walk, or skate on miles of paved trails or enjoy the trails winding through our state forests.The Superior Hiking Trail is a 210-mile trail from just north of Duluth, MN to the Canadian border. The longest paved path is the Willard Munger State Trail which connects Duluth with the scenic Jay Cooke State Park.
Visitors to Duluth can take a drive along the North Shore Scenic Drive and make stops along the way at various state parks. Gooseberry Falls State Park allows visitors to get up close to its waterfalls and has miles of hiking trails. Split Rock Lighthouse will surely be a favorite destination.Canoeing or kayaking is a great way to experience Lake Superior and the many beaches and coves along its shores. Visitors can charter a boat and do some fishing while taking in the rocky shores.
